We encourage you to step off the beaten path, embrace the unexpected and immerse yourself in the extraordinary. Our trips bring you face to face with the world?s most fascinating cultures and customs.

Is this a typical group tour
We don't offer typical group tours and our clients aren?t typical group travellers. People who travel with us want to really get to grips with the country they?re visiting and to truly understand and appreciate the cultures they experience. It?s all about authentic experiences that serves up unforgettable memories. We leave activities as options, to provide you the freedom and flexibility to choose what you want to do on a daily basis. Our trips allow you to step off the tourist track and into local culture?from bustling marketplaces to hole in the wall hidden gems. This allows you to have a more authentic travel experience.

Is this travel style for me

If you?re inquisitive and adventurous, want to travel solo or in small groups and want to immerse yourself with like-minded travellers in interesting, unique, fun experiences while we take the hassles out of travelling ? taking care of the transport, accommodation and transfers, so that you can spend more time getting to know and enjoying the country you?re in, then the answer is ?yes?! We set aside time for you to explore on your own or simply to relax.

How many people can join a tour
We keep our group sizes low so you have the freedom to move around and get involved with your surroundings. This intimate size ensures that your group won't crowd your experience. You can expect approximately 10 travellers on a trip.

What is the group leader like
Some of our trips are accompanied by a group leader. The aim of the group leader is to take the hassle out of your travels and help you have the best trip possible. Your leader will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see and recommend eating venues. You can expect your leader to have a general knowledge of the countries visited on the trip. During your trip you will have free time to pursue your own interests, relax and take it easy or explore at your leisure. While your group leader will assist you with the available options in a given location, please note that any optional activities you undertake are not part of your itinerary and The Backpacker Co makes no representations about the safety of the activity or the standard of the operators running them. Please use your own good judgment when selecting an activity in your free time.

Who are my travelling companions
For privacy reasons, we cannot provide you with advance details on your traveling companions. However, our trips appeal to a wide range of travelers. Typically, our groups are a mix of single travelers, friends and couples, all coming from various professional backgrounds like media, entertainment, advertising, etc.
As you travel in a group trip, you will be exposed to all the pleasures and maybe some of the frustrations of travelling in a group. Your fellow travellers will probably come from all corners of India and likely a range of age groups too.

What are the age restrictions on your tours

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are special trips for those travelling with kids below 18. Kindly email us on sales@thebackpackerco.com for further information.

Can I book extra nights of hostel accommodation before or after my trip
Yes, in most cases we can help to arrange additional accommodation at our starting or ending hostels. Please do let us know in advance regarding this so we can give you the required information.

Can I join a tour late or leave it early

It's difficult to join a tour after it has begun but can be sorted. You need to inform us in advance and we can give you the information. It is possible to leave a tour early however you will be responsible for your own arrangements from the moment you decide to leave the tour. You would also be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving one early.

Are airport transfers included
Airport transfers are provided for most trips once we land at the destination.

What type of ground transportation is used on your trips
More than just a way to get from A to B, we believe transportation is a major part of the experience and an incredible opportunity to truly discover a destination. We take trains , buses, minivans, ferries, cycle rickshaws and even elephants for some trips!!

I?m a vegetarian, is that a problem
No problem. A good variety of vegetarian food is available in most cities and is no longer a point of concern. It is important to realise that in some places your diet might be slightly limited, as meat often forms an integral part of the local diet but vegetarian options are always there.

What is the most appropriate type of luggage to bring
We recommend bringing a backpack, as suitcases can be cumbersome. Keep in mind that you will normally have to carry your own luggage on and off trains and up and down hostel staircases. Though some travelers do prefer suitcases.
