Name : Megha D'souza. “Human at heart & Gypsy all day”...A line
that Megha believes, describes her the best. Enjoying multiple passions in
life, Megha’s professional background includes event management, content
creation and TV production - all in the dreamy world of entertainment. Her
specialisation is Brand Communications and to create the best messages, she
believes she needs to have diverse experiences. (In short, a reason to travel
the world!). With experience of more than 10 years in the industry, she has
managed to combine her love for marketing, travel and dance in a beautiful
trinity. (Yes, she is a trained dancer and runs an Indian contemporary dance outfit
called ‘Tribe of Taal’). Six trips to the kingdom of Bhutan, a budget trip to
St. Petersburg, a shopping getaway to Dubai, honeymoon in the Scottish
Highlands, snorkelling in Koh Samui, a month in NYC & San Francisco and
many dance shows in Singapore, Canada, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh are just some of
the entries in her travel diary. Of course, she believes she hasn’t yet seen
anything! No wonder, she is now a part of The Backpacker Co heading their marketing
effort.
(Pssttt...she loves her designation- Chief Marketing Maverick!)
Name : Anisha Bangera. After attaining a degree in Human Development and a PG Diploma in Advertising, I literally stumbled into Social Media. I was labeled a “Facebook Addict” by my friends as I spent hours on the social networking site. One thing led to another and I found myself doing more than just socializing on the website. I learnt about how brands exploited this new emerging tool to promote their brands. This obsession landed my first stint at a Social Media Agency. After working for big corporate accounts, I decided to give it up and follow my passion (read, travel & food). Right now, I am the Head of Social Media at The Backpacker Company. Fondly named “Social Ninja” by my team members, I am online ALL the time. I may not answer your phone calls or SMS but, I will surely reply to your tweets. My interest in travel grew over the years. Having watched several travel shows on TLC, I dream of going on a gastronomical adventure. around the world and capturing the moments in a documentary or a blog. Keeping my fingers crossed for this one! In the meanwhile, I get to talk about Europe (courtesy my job) and food (courtesy my food blog). As a closing statement, I would like to quote Susan Sontag – “I haven’t been everywhere, but it's on my list."
Name : Surabhi Shrivastava.Travelling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, ''I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.'' - Lisa St. Aubin De Teran. My 1st travel was when I was 7months old, and since then I haven’t stopped yet. A zoologist by studies, a naturalist by heart, a traveler by soul and not forgetting a photographer by passion, I knew I wouldn’t stop so easily, as many call me a true wanderer. After many endless attempts to find peace including doing yoga I finally have found my solace in my work, my travel. Whenever I travel to a new place be it a city or a village a country or a street there is only one thing I look forward to and that is it’s people. Since a kid I always saw the world through the eye of the Idiot Box as they call it. But since I started traveling I saw it change I saw it real and suddenly my quest to touch every corner of the world has made me a travel-devotee. so here’s to all the people who have the same quest as mine..come on and join me this 2011 and coming years and make this ‘world a smaller place’.
Name : Sushmita Nair.
I hope this old train breaks down Then I could take a walk around And, see what there is to seeAnd time is just a melodyAll the people in the streetWalk as fast as their feet can take them...I just roll through town…The lyrics (and melody) to this Jack Johnson song epitomize travel for me. The thrill of just wandering to new (and old) places without plans and schedules, meeting people, taking in heady sounds sights and smells, is truly addictive and I’m proud to say I’m a wander-addict! Every time I travel to a place I add ten others to my To-go-to List…meaning, my list will most certainly outlive me. My weakness for tall glasses of beer and white wine, fat books, good food, and lively conversation – not to mention music of almost every kind, make my travels and regular life full of the above. Here’s to Europe ’11 and some good ol’ wandering fun. Cheers folks!
Name : Vineeta Noronha. As its rightly said by many ‘you can’t describe who you are, until you can show it through your work’ and I describe my work through modern art.. not a painter not a writer, not even an artist… I m a designer, a digital painter and I make people, faces, places and words look good, sound good and feel good through my magic wand! PPppssssst not a fairy.. but Photoshop!! And my biggest passion before my wand and after my chocolates is my Travel. I am a non fussy and carefree traveler who discovers the routes as they come and I’d like to end by saying I haven’t traveled enough to complete my painting… ![]() Name : Siddharth Jain Named after Gautam Buddha, Siddharth is one of those fortunate souls who discovered 'the purpose of life' very early on: great food, thick friends, exhilarating travel! Ever since this enlightenment dawned, he has applied himself diligently to seeking them out. The promise of these is also what drew him to The Backpacker Company and our motto, 'It's no longer a lonely planet!'. In the midst of all these hedonistic pursuits, this ex-advertising bloke manages to squeeze in time to direct the postgrad advertising program at one of India's leading media and mass communication schools. His quirky sense of humour, easy-going nature and imperturbable calm in the face of crisis make traveling with him a breeze... so here's to path-breaking travel in 2011!
