Itinerary

Day 1: PARIS to AMSTERDAM

Excitement mounts; train to Amsterdam with a fabulous guide to handle all the formalities. On arrival you’ll be instantly confronted by quintessential Amsterdam; cobbled streets, waterways and bicycles. After check-in your guide will show you the highlights of this incredible city, including the canals, the flower markets, and cool cafes. A welcome night dinner then a night out.

Day 2: AMSTERDAM

This morning we’re out on bikes amongst the locals through Amsterdam, then we head south out into the country side, see one of the few remaining authentic windmills, visit a cheese farm and clog making factory where you can try on a pair or two… then back to town for your free time. Meet up in the evening for Dutch grub and Heineken.

Day 3: AMSTERDAM to BERLIN

Let your Guide handle the ticketing, just board the train and relax, we’re off to the capital of Germany, Berlin. This city changes in the winter, it goes more underground; its buzzing music scene manages to become even more hip and quirky. Link up with your Guide for an orientation walk around the former East Berlin city centre of Alexanderplatz before our first night out exploring the infamous nightlife.

Day 4: BERLIN

Today is your day to explore the best of Berlin. We'll start early with an optional locally guided walking tour of this amazing and diverse city. You'll see the last remains of the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Hitler's Bomb Shelter, Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg gate and so much more. This evening take the opportunity to immerse yourself in Berlin's house or hard rock music scene at one of a multitude of nightclubs.

Day 5: BERLIN TO PRAGUE

Enjoy a nice comfy ride to Prague, maybe take a wander down the train for coffee. The Bohemian capital looms large, its toy town cuteness covers a rebellious underground, and all will be revealed by your Guide on a quick winter walk around the centre. The beer prices here are ridiculously cheap, the food warm and heartening, you’re going to love Prague.

Day 6: PRAGUE

Winter brings markets, plenty to see and do, and less crowds. Today will be a great day to check out Prague’s top sights. You can also take an optional day trip out to visit the mysterious bone church of Kutna Hora. If you’re lucky enough, you may even catch a live game of hockey; your guide will help sort tickets.

Day 7: PRAGUE TO BUDAPEST

Ride the goulash express to Budapest, one of Europe’s top cities. Your guide will show you the highlights of Budapest; the incredible indoor markets, the palaces, the KGB museum then as night falls we take on the ‘Budapest Extravaganza’. Enjoy dinner, drinks and breathtaking views as we cruise the Danube River through the heart of this magnificent city.

Day 8: BUDAPEST

This morning we’re up and out early to enjoy a morning walking tour with a local guide, to explore the ‘two sides’ of this fascinating city. Then it’s your time to explore the city, use your Guide’s advice and knowledge about where things are, where to eat and maybe take the option to bathe in the famous thermal baths. Cool outside, warm inside, these baths warm to 36 degrees…nice. Budapest is a lively city in the evening, get involved.

Day 9: BUDAPEST TO SALZBURG

The hills come alive; as the flat country rolls away east, the Alps loom large. Salzburg markets and the old city are a buzz in winter, maybe head out to the Red bull hanger to view Mr Red Bull’s toys. Tonight you have the option to visit the schnapps farm for succulent ribs and warming liqueurs.

Day 10: SALZBURG

Early doors; up and out to enjoy an optional day on the slopes. Head off skiing or boarding to one of the local ski fields within a short drive from Salzburg, or sing a little ‘aide vise’ on the sound of music tour, visit the castle or take a winter walk to a mountain hut where you can sled with panoramic views of the alps. Meet up in the old town; try some local grub and a few pints at the Augustiner beer hall tonight.

Day 11: SALZBURG to MUNICH

Just a short little trundle through Bavaria to Munich today. After check in, head straight out for a walk around town before we hit the hofbrauhaus for a great big pork knuckle and a stein of the cold stuff.

Day 12: MUNICH

Check out after breakfast or continue riding the train with Busabout into the heart of the Swiss Alps and onto the romance of Italy.
